What to expect with your upcoming procedure
What is an Arthrogram?
- An Arthrogram is an injection of contrast medium into a joint performed under image guidance
- After your injection, we will perform a CT or MRI scan to visualize your joint
Before Your Procedure
- You will need to be screened for MRI/CT safety
- If you are having a hip arthrogram, and are on blood thinners, we need to be aware.
Day of Procedure
- You will need a driver to and from the procedure
- There are no eating/drinking restrictions
- Your joint will be numb for 6 hours post procedure
Following the Procedure
- No heavy lifting for 24 hours
- Please hydrate as much as possible
Complications
- If you feel you are experiencing complications, please call us at 907-644-5379 to discuss with our Technologists. If we are unavailable, or it is outside our business hours, please present to the Emergency Room.
