What to expect with your upcoming procedure

What is a DEXA scan?

  • A DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scan is a quick, painless imaging test that measures bone mineral density. It is the established standard for diagnosing osteoporosis, assessing fracture risk, and tracking the effectiveness of bone-building treatments.

Before Your Procedure

  • DEXA scans are typically done every 365 days if you are undergoing bone health treatment
  • If your insurance requires authorization, our team will obtain it. We also offer options for discounted cash pay scans.

Day of Procedure

  • You may be asked to change into a gown/shorts
  • There are no eating/drinking restrictions
  • You will receive a questionnaire that goes over bone health history that needs to be completed prior to your scan
