What is an MRI 

• An MRI is is a noninvasive medical test that uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the organs and tissues inside your body
• If your provider ordered a contrast study, we will also place an IV to inject MRI contrast dye

Before Your Procedure 

• You will need to be screened for MRI safety
  • We cannot scan patients that have pacemakers/defibrillators
  • We need to be aware if you have any implanted medical devices, a history of injury with metal, and have had any medical procedures in the previous 2 months
  • If you are claustrophobic, we have options. Please discuss with your scheduler
• If you are having a contrast study, we ask that you start hydrating 24 hours prior so we can obtain an IV
• If your insurance requires authorization, our team will obtain it. We also offer options for discounted cash pay scans.

Day of Procedure 

• You will be asked to remove all jewelry (including permanent jewelry) and change into a gown/shorts
• There are no eating/drinking restrictions
• If you are being medicated for your scan, you must arrive 45 minutes early for your appointment with a driver

Following the Procedure

• Please hydrate as much as possible if you had a contrast study
• Images are available immediately for your provider to review
• Radiology reports are typically available within 48 hours
